Weddings at Rancho El Charco
Looking for the perfect wedding location in Texas? You may have found it right here in South Texas. If the translation of the City of “La Joya” is “the jewel”, then certainly Rancho El Charco is “the jewel within the jewel”. And what gives that jewel its gleam are the waterfalls of Lake San Marcos.

Tucked far back in the southeastern corner of the ranch hides a peaceful scene from a tropical paradise. Surrounding the emerald-green waters of Lake San Marcos are palm trees, wild olives, bougainvillea vines and native flowers. Tranquility turns to adventure and excitement, however, when one dares to cross the rickety bridge, pass through the cave and then step carefully across the stones in the creek where water comes cascading down from two-story boulders above…and a cool misty spray fills the air.
It was the beauty, however, which spurred owners Mark and Happy to construct “Capilla San Marcos” …to offer a unique setting for outdoor weddings. Its hand-carved wooden altar (designed by Happy herself, using icons from Mexican cultural art and hand-crafted by an artisan in Central Mexico), has become a locally famous work of art, earning even national recognition.
Whether it be for meaningful ceremonies or whimsical waterfall walks, experiences at the waterfalls and Capilla San Marcos seem to become lifelong favorite memories. For Rancho El Charco, contributing to people’s lives through special ceremonies and outdoor adventure lies at the essence of the value in this “jewel within the jewel”.
